“Batuque Percussion”

Afrobrasileira “Musica Popular Brasileira”

 

This group, which has been together for many years, grew out of an idea by drummer and multi-percussionist Stefano Rossini to promote Afro-Brazilian music and culture and to bring it to a wider audience.

The focus of the band has been the rich rhythmic tradition of Brazil and the vast repertoire and instrumental elements which make up the “raiz”, or roots of the M.P.B.

Their music unites the deep rhythmic grooves of Africa to modern arrangements in the “Brazilian Jazz” tradition.

The band’s performances appeal both to music aficionados and to those hearing Brazilian music for the first time.

The group has received much critical acclaim, and was awarded first prize for best Jazz orchestra in the 2012 “Rome Festival of Orchestras”

“Batuque Percussion” has recorded 2 CDs, released in 2006 and 2010.
